Slightly further to the north of Appleby, the traditional, bustling market town of Penrith, gateway to Ullswater, can be found. Whether your interests be walking, climbing, fishing, golf, nature, history, art, literature or just relaxing and touring the pretty sandstone villages of Eden and the spectacular and contrasting scenery of the Lakes and Dales, you will find plenty to do and see.
